Oboustranné ( hexagonální, šestihranné ) řemeny se používají u pohonů s více než dvěma řemenicemi, kdy je možné využít obě hnací strany řemenu. Serpentinovým osazením řemenic lze dosáhnout jejich protiběžného chodu. Tento princip pohonu se používá u zemědělských strojů, zahradních sekaček, drtičů, míchadel, spřádacích strojů nebo dopravníků.
